Moody’s Confirms Rating of CJSC “International Bank of Tajikistan” and Maintains Stable Outlook
The international rating agency Moody’s Ratings has noted improvements in several rating metrics of the International Bank of Tajikistan (IBT). In particular, the bank’s counterparty risk rating for several indicators stands at B2, while the foreign currency counterparty risk rating has been upgraded to B2 from B3.
At the same time, Moody’s Ratings has confirmed IBT’s long-term deposit ratings in both local and foreign currency at B3 with a Stable outlook.
According to Moody’s assessment, the confirmation of IBT’s ratings reflects:
• strong capital buffers;
• good profitability;
• low level of problem loans;
• strong fee and transaction income;
• sufficient liquidity levels;
• continued high capitalization.
According to the published information, Moody’s also positively highlighted several key indicators of the bank:
• Long-term local currency Counterparty Risk Rating (CRR) — B2;
• Long-term foreign currency Counterparty Risk Rating (CRR) — B2;
• Long-term Counterparty Risk Assessment (CR Assessment) — B2(cr);
• Long-term deposit ratings in local and foreign currency — B3;
• Baseline Credit Assessment (BCA) — b3;
• Outlook on long-term deposit ratings — Stable.
In its statement, Moody’s emphasized that the bank demonstrates sustainable profitability, maintains strong capitalization and liquidity levels, and continues to expand its lending activities.
The confirmation of the ratings and the improvement of certain indicators by Moody’s serve as an important signal of confidence from an international rating agency and confirm the strength and stability of the financial profile of the International Bank of Tajikistan.
Moody’s Ratings is one of the three largest international credit rating agencies in the world, assessing the financial strength of banks, corporations, and governments. Moody’s ratings are widely used by investors and financial institutions worldwide to evaluate credit risk and the reliability of organizations.
It should be noted that only two banks in the Republic of Tajikistan currently hold an international credit rating from Moody’s, one of which is the International Bank of Tajikistan.
